Sep 30, 2009 · ALL Remington 870's 16 & 20 guage were build on a 12 guage receiver. I own a 1975 Wingmaster 12ga the weight is the same as my brother's 16ga 870. I could be wrong but I think you will have look to the Ithaca Model 37 or Browning BPS to find a true 16 ga receiver.
